Research Assistant Opportunity

Education for global justice, solidarity and interconnectedness: Developing and disseminating social justice approaches across physical education teacher education programmes (Justice Ed) 

The Justice Ed project is looking to recruit a Research Assistant (half day a week (equivalent) over 11 months) to support research activities on a project exploring teaching social justice approaches in initial teacher education at the University of Limerick and Ulster University.

The successful candidates will:

  • Collate literature relevant to the research topic.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment and data collection.
  • Gather data through focus groups and recorded meetings.
  • Perform qualitative data analyses focus groups, teacher educator reflective diaries and recorded meetings.
  • Support the preparation of reports, conference abstracts, journal articles and other outputs.
  • Carry out administrative work to support the programme of research and any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post.

Candidate requirements

  • A degree (Level 8 NFQ) in education, sociology or a related area.
  • Experience in qualitative research methods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact with external stakeholders
  • Capacity to work independently and within a project team to achieve results
  • Highly motivated with excellent organisational skills.

The post is costed at point 9 of the Irish Universities Association Research Assistant scale (€34,930 pro rata). Remote working is supported.
