The Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Sciences (SES), is one of three UG degrees offered in the Department of Physical Education and Sport and Exercise Sciences. Our UG degree is four-years of study which includes an eight-month period of work experience in the third year of the programme. The first year of the course provides an introduction to the core disciplines within SES including physiology, anatomy, psychology, biomechanics and coaching science. Overall, the programme will give you an in-depth knowledge and understanding of key elements of sport, exercise, health and physical activity from the perspective of the sciences. Laboratory experience is an integral part of each of these core areas where you will test concepts and theories and acquire laboratory and research skills.

Our department staff are highly qualified academics and researchers and also highly regarded practitioners including Olympians, former professional athletes and current professional coaching staff. This sporting experience allows staff members to enhance student learning through applied practice in their lecture and lab teaching. Colleagues have been recognised with both faculty and university teaching excellence awards as individuals and as part of module delivery teams.
