In a repeat of the 2016 final, UL Senior Camogie Team captured the Ashbourne Cup for the second year in a row in February 2017. The UL team defeated UCC in the final with the score line of UL 2-8 UCC 1-7. Credit to the players and management for producing an incredibly skilful and gritty final performance, which is ULs third Ashbourne Cup success in four years.
PESS students had a notable presence on the team as did PESS graduates in the backgroom team. Members of the backroom team and logistics team included mentors Paudie Carey (MSc. Sports Performance Graduate), Fiana Ni Bhrian (MSc. Sports Performance) and Ciaran McElhinney (PESS) who were of invaluable assistance throughout the weekend.
