PESS Ball raises over €900 for The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation – Daniel Tindall

Recently, students and faculty ‘Dressed to Impress’ as part of the 2017 Annual PESS Ball which took place on the 1st of November in the Strand Hotel, Limerick. A great night was had by all as event goers enjoyed an appetising 3-course meal, awards and spot prizes on the night, and entertainment provided by both a live band and DJ playing on stage.

The event was organised by Ms Saoirse McGrath, a 4th year Physical Education and English student and raised €928 in total. On behalf of the PESS Department and its students, we would like to thank her for all her efforts. Without her the event would not have been held this year. Well done Saoirse!!!

This year, the profits made from the event were donated to The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation (MWCF) Limited. The Foundation was established by Professor Rajnish K. Gupta, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Director of Cancer Services at the University Hospital Limerick. A local cancer charity, the Foundation was created to streamline donations with all to be used in the mid-western region as a means to enhance services for patients attending the Cancer Centre at the University Hospital Limerick and for research at the University of Limerick. Specifically, the aim of the Foundation is to provide holistic care for patients with cancer and support research in the Mid-West region.
