On successful completion, you will gain the Level 6 Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (Fitness Instructor)  Qualification accredited by the University of Limerick. The Certificate is also mapped to the Europe Active European Industry Standards Exercise for Health Specialist, EQF Level 5. This qualification will enable you to work as a fitness instructor in an existing health club /gym, both in the resistance /cardio areas or taking classes in the exercise studio. Others prefer to work freelance and hire the local sportshall /community centre and take their own classes 2-3 times per week and some work their local club sports team as the fitness trainer. You will be qualified to teach group exercise classes in circuit training & HIIT, resistance training /body conditioning, step training and exercise to music. You will also be qualified to conduct health related fitness assessments on individuals or groups and from the results of those assessments design exercise programmes specific to the needs and goals of your clients. All the above relate to adults 18 years and over. Full details on course content may be found on the NCEF website.

The timing of the course is scheduled to begin when you are finished you PESS examinations and before you head away /to work for the summer. Course content tends to emphasise practical areas of exercise technique and of course class taking skills!! A course manual covering all areas of content is provided for each student in addition to full access to the CEHF Blended Learning website which contains tutorial videos, animations and electronic self-assessments that you can use to gauge your progress! A compulsory practical workshop for all students who think they may be interested in taking the Intensive course will take place on 20th March. This will provide you with a greater insight into course content and offer you an opportunity to resurrect some practical, coordination and timing skills that may be a little rusty due to your studies!
