PESS Adjunct Professor David Lavallee develops a new tool to measure welfare & wellbeing in sport

The world’s first Professor of Duty of Care in Sport, David Lavallee of Abertay University has launched The Sport Census.  The new tool, created by Prof. Lavallee, measures welfare and wellbeing in sport and provides organisations with independent, reliable and inclusive information.

Prof. Lavallee has indicated that the Sport Census tool has been designed to illuminate best practice with the aim of increasing sport participation.

It was officially launched at the Scottish Student Sport Conference (14th – 15th June 2018) at the University of St Andrews, where Prof Lavallee demonstrated the tool to delegates and students.  Hundreds of athletes and coaches from over 50 sports teams at the University of St Andrews were the first to take part in The Sport Census earlier this year.
