Publication: Acute reduction of lower-body contractile function following a microbiopsy of m. vastus lateralis

Research Impact Summary:  In resistance trained men 18‐35 years, capable of producing forceful/powerful muscular contractions, a minimally invasive unilateral microbiopsy of m. vastus lateralis causes an acute inhibition of lower‐body bilateral contractile function and an imbalance between limbs. In sport and exercise, science research biopsies are frequently performed alongside measures of contractile function. Based on these observations, authors recommend caution when planning and designing experiments using both of these measures in temporal proximity.
