Publication: Implementing movement integration across the whole school: findings from the Moving to Learn Ireland programme

Research Impact:  Moving to Learn Ireland is a programme that enables primary school teachers to teach classroom-based curricular subjects using physically active methods. This paper considers the delivery of Moving to Learn in a case-study school, with a particular focus on children’s enjoyment, the school environment and teachers’ perceptions of the programme. Teachers noted that the experiential nature of the professional development workshop contributed to their self-efficacy, enabling them to successfully embed movement into daily lessons. The students’ enjoyment of the programme, desire for more movement in the classroom, and positive attitudes towards learning through movement, point to the value of this novel pedagogical approach.
