Research Master’s opportunity in Physical Education, Physical Activity & Youth Sport – elaine murtagh.

PEPAYS Ireland, in conjunction with the University of Limerick, is delighted to offer a one-year full-time or two-year part-time opportunity for a Research Master’s, starting in September 2022 or January 2023, aligned to the mission and core values of the PEPAYS Ireland Research Centre.

In particular, the candidate will maximise available information, resources and outlets, e.g. national agencies, to determine how the mission and core values of PEPAYS Ireland support (or need to change in order to support) recent developments, nationally and internationally, in the interrelated fields of physical education, physical activity and youth sport. Preliminary research already undertaken by PEPAYS Ireland in relation to the future direction of the research centre will be made available to the successful candidate to support their initial work.

Fees and stipend

Candidates undertaking the Research Masters full-time will be eligible for a 1-year fee waiver and a stipend of €18,000.

Those currently in full-time employment can avail of a 2-year fee waiver.

Those currently in part-time employment may avail of a 2-year fee waiver and a stipend of €9, 000 each year.

Application

Interested candidates should contact potential supervisors to discuss their proposal in the first instance. Potential supervisors may be iidentified through the PEPAYS Ireland Forum proceedings (http://www.pepaysireland.com/ and here). It is envisaged that supervisory teams will be inter-institutional. Note that at least one supervisor must be a staff member at the University of Limerick for registration purposes.

Applicants are requested to submit an application comprising: (i) a CV – max 3 pages, and (ii) an application statement of no more than 1000 words that outlines (1) familiarity and interest in the core values and mission of PEPAYS Ireland, (2) a proposed outline for a project and associated project deliverables, and (3) the skillset and interests of the applicant that align with the advertised opportunity. Brief biographies for the supervisory team should also be appended to the application (max 200 words per supervisor).
