At PESS, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our students both within and beyond the classroom. This year, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to all PESS students who were recognised at the University of Limerick President’s Volunteer Awards 2026.
Volunteering reflects a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others and in the communities we serve. Through their involvement in schools, sports clubs, charities, community organisations, health initiatives, and voluntary groups, our students have demonstrated outstanding leadership, generosity, and civic responsibility.
The skills developed through volunteering, including teamwork, communication, empathy, and leadership, complement the academic and professional learning that takes place across our programmes. These experiences not only enrich the communities in which our students volunteer but also help shape them into engaged and compassionate graduates.
On behalf of all staff in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, I commend our award recipients for their dedication and service. Your willingness to give your time and talents to others embodies the values we strive to foster within PESS.
We are immensely proud of your achievements and the positive impact you continue to make. Congratulations to each of you on this well-deserved recognition.
Dr John Perry
Head of Department.
