Publication: Enhancing the development of equitable and inclusive class environments through Sport Education-Teaching Games for Understanding

Research Impact: In the context of physical education, groups are heterogeneous in terms of motor competence, motivation or interests, with students expected to learn at the same pace (Metzler, 2011). There is therefore a need to create equitable learning spaces to cater for all students’ individual characteristics and preferences (Lynch et al., 2020).The main objective of this study was to develop game understanding and competence in physical education by combining elements of Sport Education and Teaching Games for Understanding, appreciating that the enhancement of students’ game competence is an objective for both models.
